All the best for the year 2013-the year of the Snake-from Sandakan, Sabah

"Everybody needs a friend"

Some time ago when I was quietly photographing a family of Chestnut-winged Babblers enjoying their breakfast in the lush vegetation in RDC when suddenly, out of nowhere, a tiny White-chested Babbler emerged screaming and looked very upset, certainly it had seen something very scary...maybe a Monitor-lizard lurking from the pond?  The group stopped its activities and carefully listened to its story, and soon they  disappeared  into the forest...an hour later I found them all together looking for food around a swamp.
These active Chestnut-winged Babblers seem to have many friends; yesterday I saw them hanging around with a Pied Fantail.

"How about breakfast together ?"

These two Woodpeckers had found a juicy tree trunk for the breakfast -first feasting happily together, but after a while found it impossible to share the food - after a brief argument the Puff-necked Woodpecker decided to leave; though, eating alone wasn't after all that nice and soon the Puff-rumped Woodpecker decided to leave as well.

"Let's get together..."

Even Malkohas seem to wonder around together in a family-like group.  Some time ago on a trail in RDC I bumped into a group of Raffles's Malkohas and a Chestnut-breasted Malkoha feasting together, and of'course, when there is any activity around, there is always a Greater Racket-tail Drongo looking and listening or just playing around.  Few minutes later a group of 3 very curious Black-and-Red Broadbills came to see what's going on and to join the party...what fun!

Please, enjoy...
